A BAKERY is attracting customers by using twitter to send messages when fresh bread and cakes are ready. The Albion in Shoreditch has installed a system called Baker Tweet, which has a control panel with a switch for staff to press as they remove batches from the oven. Locals can then get the updates via the twitter name @albionsoven, and signed up figure (followers) is just about to reach 400. Peter Prescott, one of the owners of the firm, said: “We have been amazed by the response.”
Andrew Zolty from Poke, developers of the Baker Tweet system, said he hoped it would change people’s perceptions of Twitter. “We wanted to show it can be used for more serious applications,” he added.

Hi Kash
What a great story and really shows two things.
1) The power of using social media tools like Twitter
2) You don’t need a huge following to make it work for you and generate real business.
Congrats to the bakery for coming up with such a great idea – definately a case of ‘using their loaves’
Cheers – Jonathan
